Saint Mary's Breast Center
Multidisciplinary Breast Clinic
Time won't work against you when our cancer specialists are
working with you.
Traditional cancer care involves sending you to one specialist
after another, all over town. The waiting, wondering, worrying,
and lost time can leave you feeling quite helpless.
At The Lacks Cancer Center at Saint Mary's, we do things quite
differently. We offer the most advanced technologies and treatments
and something else you'll appreciate, control. We
bring all your specialists together all at once, on one day
to meet with you to discuss options and plan your treatment.
That meeting takes place in as few as two days after your
initial biopsy. If you're examined on Tuesday, your oncology
team analyzes your results on Wednesday, and by Thursday we're
meeting with you. If your results detect cancer, you'll meet
with your surgeon, oncologist, and other cancer specialists
right here, right away to discuss treatment options and next
steps. Just as important, we keep that level of communication
and coordination throughout your care.
For most patients, all of your treatment takes place right
here at The Lacks Cancer Center. With your team of specialists working
together at one centralized location, communication is maximized.
Delays are minimized. And you're kept in the loop. You'll
always know what is happening, when, and why.
With the introduction of our multidisciplinary Breast
Clinic well over four years ago, we were the first to introduce
our coordinated care clinics to West Michigan. No one else
in the area has this depth and wealth of experience. It's
become the success model for others planning or adopting similar
approaches.
If you fear you may have breast cancer, your best defense
is early diagnosis and treatment. Consult your physician and
ask for a referral. Or call The Lacks Cancer Center at 616-752-6714
to schedule an examination. If you'd like a second opinion,
make that call, too. Many insurance providers cover and even
encourage second opinions.
| "I found sanctuary at The Cancer Center
at Saint Mary's -- a sanctuary in my war with breast cancer.
But also, a sanctuary from frustration and fears. Ones
that emerged from my experience at another facility with
a traditional approach to cancer care. Referred to one
specialist after another, I was getting too few answers
and losing too much time. I was feeling scared, caught
in a "system" where days turned into weeks of uncertainty.
Then I read an ad for The Cancer Center at Saint Mary's
. As promised, I went from exam to planning my treatment
with my oncology team in less than a week. In control,
I felt free knowing I was being taken care of. Cancer
is a war on the body. And it's as much a war on the mind
and spirit, too. If you must fight this war, these are
the people you want at your side." |
