Partnering for Parkinson's Disease
Last month, in a unique partnership with the Parkinson's Association of West Michigan and Rehab Pros, Saint Mary's Health Care launched an exercise and recreation class for people with Parkinson's Disease, their family members, care givers, health care workers and community residents. PERC (Parkinson's Exercise and Recreation Class) is designed to help persons with Parkinson's maintain their highest possible level of physical functioning through stimulating and challenging activities.
Led by Judy Overmeyer, lead physical therapist at The Parkinson's Center, this innovative class emphasizes balance, posture, strength, flexibility, safety and mobility.
A grant from the Saint Mary's Doran Foundation helped launch the program and provides another example of Saint Mary's and the Foundation's commitment to providing holistic, patient-centered health care.
